The Compliance Officer position is a new role and reports into the Head of Legal for the business. You will be responsible for ensuring Janes policies and procedures comply with all applicable law and ethical standards. The Compliance Officer will be the primary point of contact for all compliance related matter. 


  • Undertake all client/ partner/ supplier screening (KYC/ AML/ Sanctions/ PEP etc) relating to client/ partner/ supplier onboarding and ongoing once onboarded.
  • Develop and implement company policies and regulations.
  • Oversee all business operations relating to compliance including maintaining Janes risk register, Janes policies and procedures.
  • Design and monitor control systems to deal with violations of legal rules and internal policies.
  • Regularly assess the efficiency of control systems and recommend effective improvements.
  • Review and evaluate company procedures and reports to identify hidden risks or common issues.
  • Coordinate with different department managers to review all departmental compliance policies.
  • Perform periodic audits on company procedures and processes.
  • Lead employee training sessions on legal and compliance issues.


  • Educated to degree level ideally with a further professional or tertiary qualification in a related field;
  • Proven work experience as a compliance officer or similar position;
  • Strong knowledge of industry processes and regulations relating to Janes;
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrable experience in conducting screening and remediation using a third-party screening tool;
  • Knowledge of UK, European and USA import, export and licencing regulations and setting up related compliance monitoring programs;
  • Understanding of embargoes, sanctions and bribery & corruption legislation in the UK and USA;
  • Knowledge of data protection legislation as it is applied in the UK and Europe;
  • Being able to multitask with rapidly changing priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment;
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and analytical skills;
  • A strong, effective and impactful communicator at all levels of the business; and
  • Being able to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a growing team.
