The weapons team in our Bangalore office, require a Research Associate to be part of a developing opportunity as a subject matter expert within the Janes Weapons - Ammunition handbook product area. 

This role will involve researching, updating, and creating Janes reference records and as a subject matter expert, provide technical expertise on ammunition to cover all natures. 


The Research Associate will be involved with ensuring content is updated or created in a timely fashion and then identify opportunities and lead execution of complex research topics. 

This requires a good knowledge and expertise of Ammunition, specifically the technical elements, performance, specification, use and manufacture. This will have begun with the development of a network of relevant industry or country contacts or as a user of various ammunition natures.

Demonstrates an ability to communicate an understanding of ammunition manufacture processes, performance and industry and reflect this in the material provided to and for the business.

Provides timely analyst commentary and insight including to internal audiences and external clients; interfaces with other experts in the region/industry to ensure consistency in Janes analysis across different markets and functional areas.


  • In depth working technical knowledge of Land Ammunition in manufacturing, military, or government services, probably from an artillery or tank specific user base.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English with an attention to detail, including relevant additional language skills as appropriate.
  • Good knowledge of MS applications required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams) and ability to use them effectively including familiarity with interrogating relevant databases.
  • Knowledge or experience of working with content management systems would be an advantage.
  • Some previous experience in writing technical journals, articles, publications, or reports.
  • Organization and problem-solving skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be flexible with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with all co-workers.
  • First degree and/or second degree likely to be in a chemistry or physics related subject.
