The Cloud Architect is a key role working within the development team to create the next generation of Intelligence Analytics systems that support organisations across the globe, developing products using data analytics, machine learning and graph database technologies. You will be shaping and working across the full DevOps spectrum with test automation, CI/CD with innovation and continuous improvement at the heart of what we do. 

You will work across the full spectrum of systems within the company, with working knowledge across both development and operations, able to switch focus dependent upon priorities.  Our cloud platform is relatively new, and there will be many opportunities to shape and lead in the design of our evolving estate – you will be able to make a real difference within Janes.


  • Leads and manages complex initiatives and projects;  defines workflows and timeframes to support specifications and guidelines.
  • Uses knowledge of DevOps tools to review code, troubleshoot, and execute virtualization and integration strategies while focusing on security, reliability, and scalability of the solution.
  • Manages platform systems to ensure reliability and security through the support and maintenance of existing systems; develops, selects, and implements systems enhancements.
  • Enable product teams through implementation of deployment pipelines and deployment strategy from dev to production in a cloud-based environment.
  • Understands automation design and infrastructure to determine what to automate.
  • Actively engages and collaborates with stakeholders throughout software development process to identify opportunities and risks and make appropriate adaptations.
  • Provides input into design of automation for full infrastructure deployment.
  • Develops and implements maintenance plans to address technical issues; seeks opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
  • Performs technical analysis of complex software, hardware, and transmission facility using various diagnostic tools.
  • Interprets the analysis of current architecture setup to understand and suggest potential enhancements.
  • Researching and evaluating tools to support domain-specific needs.
  • Applies technical capabilities within own discipline to coach and develop junior employees.
  • Provide occasional support to production operations teams.


  • In-depth AWS experience, including but not limited to S3, CloudFront, Kinesis, DynamoDB, ECS/EKS, Systems Manager, CloudFormation)
  • Infrastructure as code automation tools e.g. Terraform.
  • Containerisation technologies and tooling experience.
  • Experience of working with .NetCore and Azure DevOps.
  • Configuration management experience.
  • Software delivery tooling (Azure DevOps. Atlassian, Jira).
  • Experience in using continuous integration and continuous delivery solutions across Cloud environments.
  • Monitoring production environments using operational monitoring application    
  • Ensuring production systems are scalable, resilient and secure.
  • Working with software engineering teams to automate provisioning of environments.
  • Appreciation of lean software delivery methodology in a rapidly changing agile environment.
  • Self-managing and able to build on ideas and requirements from the R&D teams.
  • Understanding of complete software lifecycle including production operations.
  • Static code analysis & security scanning pipelines and associated tooling.
  • Designing and implementing centralised monitoring solutions including logging, monitoring, alerting.
  • Cloud networking including VPC, subnets, security groups, peering, CIDR.
  • Building zero downtime solutions.
  • Azure experience would be preferable.
  • Professional certification in AWS (i.e. AWS Certified DevOps Engineer)would be advantageous.
