Janes is searching for a dynamic, experienced architecture leader to join our leadership team to drive solution design as we embark on building the next generation of OSInt (Open Source Intelligence) products and services. Reporting to the CTO, you will have a passion for creating sustainable enterprise architectures using your considerable experience of data systems, AWS technologies and influencing agile development teams.  You will be a highly delivery focused, seasoned architecture professional, who is a dynamic, highly collaborative team player. You will love working in a fast-paced environment, thrives on dealing with multiple significant challenges, can seamlessly integrate into the wider business, and be recognized as a senior technical leader.

On offer is the opportunity to lead design of a major re-platforming of our capabilities, to create an end to end Information Fabric that manages our entire data lifecycle, including a number of advanced technology solutions including Graph databases, AI and Entity Recognition capabilities as well as ensuing we do the basics well in managing our complex datasets. You will work with the Development Directors and CISO to ensure that we are designing the right solutions for the market to drive the business forward to realise our ambitious growth plans.

The Director of Architect is responsible for the overall solutions architecture of initiatives, ensuring quality of design, that the designs are in line with the architecture strategy and that the designs are implementable by their technical teams. The role will need to support and influence key stakeholders, such as product owners, developers and engineering to ensure product and architecture strategies are understood, supported and ultimately delivered.


  • Accountable for the roadmap and setting architectural direction for Janes
  • Leading solution architecture on various levels - from high level outlined architecture to detailed architecture and in some cases high level design
  • Responsibility for the Solution Architecture Documentation and other architectural deliverables, supporting the Product Owners, Business Analyst in the production of Use Cases and Use Case model, supporting Data Architecture designs in the production of agreed deliverables
  • Solution governance and quality assurance
  • Providing solutions for a wide range of technologies
  • Working in product led, agile environments
  • Support the IT service management function ensuring support of the relevant processes and team members
  • Support the project management team with the development of new work, ensuring that solutions are delivered in a timely manner


  • Proven working experience working as a Solution Architect across a range of complex technologies and platforms, with considerable experience designing native cloud-based solutions and API based architectures.
  • Experience of some of the following technologies preferable: Graph databases, Data Fabrics, Data Analytics, machine learning, and web portals.
  • Experience of complex multi-system solution development projects with multi-dimensioned process and data requirements.
  • Technical background and ability to conceptualise technology into a design, in some cases without having had direct hands-on technical experience of the technology.
  • Past experience of designing systems or components, which are secure, scalable, and reusable.
  • Relevant solution architecture skills (i.e. Process, Data, Application, and Infrastructure), and a good understanding of architectural concepts, methodologies and mapping approaches.
  • Experience with formal architectural methodologies and frameworks, ideally TOGAF.
  • Strong appreciation of Programming Language(s) used in the SDLC.
  • Experience in architecture modelling techniques.
  • Proven experience of solution design and architecture in the successful delivery of complex, highly performing and highly scalable software systems.
  • Experience of working in an omni channel Retail environment.
