Senior Analyst - Forecasts and Budgets (Hybrid)

JOB PURPOSE
Janes is searching for a Senior Analyst to join the forecasts and budgets team based in our Coulsdon, Surrey offices. The Senior Analyst will contribute to outputs, including Defence Budgets (JDB), Global Platforms and Systems (GPS) and defence industry market reports, as well as future integrated products.
In order to be successful in this role you will have a strong understanding of the defence sector, including funding trends, major procurement programmes and national industrial capabilities. A keen enthusiasm for data interrogation and analytical rigour will also be favoured, as will the ability to clearly and confidently present findings to clients.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AT JANES
Research, record, analyse, forecast, and report state defence budgets over a given geographic portfolio as part of the Janes Defence Budgets product.
Maintain and expand Janes GPS records on defence procurement programmes, including forecasting unit deliveries and total value.
Collaborate with colleagues to help shape the future of Janes market intelligence product offerings.
Update Janes defence industry Market Reports covering production capabilities, company intelligence, business conditions, and procurement and offset policies.
Contribute expert comment and analysis to Janes journalistic and promotional material, including news articles and webinars.
Engage with clients, including through the delivery of consultancy projects.
THE IDEAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE FOR THIS ROLE ARE
Expertise in independent open-source research.
Education to degree level in a relevant subject or relevant experience.
Experience in the defence, security or foreign policy sectors preferred.
Market or economic forecasting experience beneficial.
Excellent standards of written and spoken communication.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
